Kenya’s Maasai Cricket Warriors: In Pics

Kenya's Maasai Cricket Warriors have captured the imagination of cricket fans internationally.
The team is made up of young Maasai warriors from the Laikipia region in Kenya. The players compete in traditional dress and hope the attention this has gained them will help in their battle against the rise of drinking, drug use and HIV infection among the youth of their community.
Their mission, as stated on their Facebook page, is to "empower youth in Maasai communities of Kenya through cricket development, while enhancing their participation in community development, allowing them to become healthy, productive and well adjusted members of society."
Gender issues are also on their radar, as they have been reported to campaign against early marriage and female genital mutilation.
The team is also the subject of a documentary set to be released later this year. The documentary is called Warriors, and one of the executive producers is England bowler James Anderson. Funds for the completion of the film were raised at crowdfunding website Indiegogo.
