The Dream Chats About Jay-Z’s Comment On His Grammy Outfit

Grammy night was full of surprises on Sunday, but one of the most talked about moments was when Frank Ocean, Jay-Z and The Dream were on stage accepting the award for Best Rap Song/Collaboration for the Watch The Throne hit, “No Church in the Wild.” While The Dream and Frank gave their heartfelt thanks to family and friends, Jay took the opportunity to clown The Dream for wearing a ‘Boyz N tha Hood’ hat propped up over a ‘Parental Advisory’ beanie.
I’d like to thank the swap meet for his hat.
The jokes carried over into the next day as The Dream received “Donkey Of The Day” honors from The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God.
The Dream came to The Grammy’s dressed like he was at rehearsals for The BET Hip Hop Awards.  This guy, The Dream, was dressed like he was outside jogging around the Staples Center, trying to burn calories.  He sonned Frank Ocean, Frank Ocean was talking and he told him to move out of the way. He scolded the Grammy’s for cutting him off during his last Grammy win, then he thanked his mom and grandma until Sir Carter from Brooklyn so eloquently brought him back down to reality.
Clearing up any rumors that he may have been bothered by Jay-Z’s comment, The Dream called into Philly’s Hot 109.7 to chat about his Grammy get up with Q Deezy.  He told him:
I don’t know if people really know how much time we spend around each other. There’s a thing like, ‘Oh that’s the first time he’s around him and that’s what Jay feels about him.’ We’re around each other joking all the time. It’s not like he wouldn’t say that. He would say that whether the TV is on or not.
Of course I have suits in my closet that I could have put on. I could have looked like everybody else that was there. I could have did that. Actually, we made the best TV moment that’s been on the Grammys in a long time. I don’t mind taking a joke or a jab. That’s cool. I’ll get Jay back.[...] All that means is that Jay’s in debt and he owes me like, three rap verses.

Wale: ‘I Didn’t Like Kelly Clarkson’s Back-Handed Comments To Miguel’

Rapper Wale is not here for Kelly Clarkson’s comment towards Miguel at the Grammys.
Although Miguel’s “Adorn” record was one of the biggest R&B songs on the radio last year, there are still a lot of people who don’t know who he is just yet, so his performance with Wiz Khalifa at the Grammys was a nice little introduction for a few folks that are out of the loop.
Season One American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, was definitely impressed and gave him a shout out while accepting her award for Best Pop Vocal album. She said,
“Miguel, I don’t know who the hell you are, but we need to sing together. I mean, good God. That was the sexiest damn thing I’ve ever seen.”
Although some artists like Pink thought that Kelly’s comment was funny and cute, others, like Wale didn’t think it was funny at all. Wale, who worked with Miguel on “Lotus Flower Bomb,” told MTV after the show:
“I didn’t like the Kelly Clarkson back-handed comments to Miguel. I didn’t like that at all. I just feel like our urban music is belittled, a little bit. Not trying to offend nobody on the committee, but for a record as big as ‘Adorn,’ and it to not be presented as a real performance onstage; it was almost like a segue to an award. Again, I don’t want to offend anybody on the committee, but that wasn’t a very good representation of our music because ‘Adorn’ is gonna be around for the next 30 years.”
Meanwhile, Miguel didn’t seem to take offense. He met up with her backstage and posed for a pic that she posted on her Instagram with the caption, “Miguel!”
Kelly’s little shout out probably put even more people on to Miguel but Wale is right about Miguel’s performance.  It was extremely short.
