Pre-Season Friendly: Valerenga 0 Barcelona 7

Barcelona produced a scintillating display to defeat Norwegian outfit Valerenga 7-0 in Oslo on Saturday.

Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez were particularly impressive for the Spanish champions, with the pair grabbing a goal apiece in the first half.

Cristian Tello and Jonathan Dos Santos also scored in the opening period, as a Jean Marie Dongou brace and a Joan Angel Roman strike completed the rout in the second half.

Barcelona named the same starting line-up that lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in midweek, while new coach Gerardo Martino watched from the stands.

It did not take the away side long to find their stride and they were 2-0 up within six minutes.

First Messi clipped a pass to Sanchez, who dropped his shoulder before cutting onto his left-foot and blasting his effort home. A minute later Messi once again orchestrated the opening, floating a cross to Tello who struck a first-time effort into the bottom-right corner.

The Argentina international then grabbed a goal for himself as he waltzed past three defenders before unleashing a left-footed effort beyond Lars Hirschfeld. Moments later he hit the crossbar, but the fourth came just shy of half time as Dos Santos took a Sanchez centre in his stride and squeezed his effort beyond the goalkeeper.

There was no let-up after the break as 18-year-old forward Dongou was the next beneficiary of a Sanchez assist. The Chilean reversed a pass behind the defence, which was coolly finished by the Cameroonian in the 52nd minute.

He grabbed his second four minutes later, after yet more unselfish play from Sanchez. The Chilean broke into the box and laid the ball into the path of Dongou who applied a calm finish from the centre of the box.

And Barca had time for one more with five minutes remaining. Roman broke down the left, cut inside and took his time before unleashing his effort into the far corner.

They go on to face Polish side Lechia Gdansk on Tuesday, as they continue preparations for the season opener against Levante on August 18.

International Champions Cup: Valencia 1 Milan 2

First-half goals from Robinho and Nigel de Jong led Milan to a 2-1 International Champions Cup win against Valencia at the Estadio Mestalla.

After missing a penalty, Robinho scored from 18 yards before De Jong went one better and curled in a 25-yard screamer.

Valencia pulled a goal back early in the second half, as Daniel Parejo netted from close range, but despite their persistence, the Spanish side could not find a second goal in the opening match of the pre-season tournament that features seven European sides and is played over two countries.

Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic's squad did not include captain Roberto Soldado, with the striker strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League recently.

Instead, Djukic opted for 19-year-old Francisco Alcacer up front, while Milan included new signing Andrea Poli and star duo Kevin-Prince Boateng and Robinho in their starting line-up.

Valencia started brightest, with Ever Banega and Sofiane Feghouli going close in the early stages, as French left-back Jeremy Mathieu impressed going forward.

Almost against the run of play, Milan won a penalty, with Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita foolishly bringing down Poli near the byline in the 21st minute.

Robinho – who missed a penalty in a mid-week friendly against Juventus – again failed to convert from 12 yards, as Guaita pulled off a one-handed save, with Valencia's defenders reacting quickly to clear the danger emanating from the rebound.

Robinho made amends less than one minute later though, as he took a touch after receiving a neat ball from Poli and drilled a low shot from the edge of the penalty area across Guaita and into the left corner.

It was a terrific finish but drama was to follow Robinho, who pulled up with a suspected groin problem shortly after, and a melee followed as Valencia refused to kick the ball out and nearly scored through Alcacer.

Antonio Nocerino and Boateng were shown yellow cards for their involvement in the fracas.

The frenetic nature of the match continued as an Adil Rami header was disallowed for offside, while Feghouli wasted a terrific chance moments later for the hosts.

Boateng also had a goal disallowed following a foul at a Milan corner before De Jong scored a stunning second for the Serie A side.

The Ghanaian fed the ball to the former Manchester City midfielder, and from 25 yards he curled a superb effort into the top-right corner, giving Guaita no chance.

De Jong hit a free-kick just wide on the verge of half-time, with the break allowing both sides and the fans to catch their breath.

Diego Alves replaced Guaita in goal for Valencia, while Gabriel came on in place of Christian Abbiati and Sulley Muntari was introduced for Milan.

Rami hit a left-foot effort that went just wide early in the second half, while Kevin Constant did the same at the other end.

Valencia did get their goal though, as an excellent Jonas chip found Alcacer in the penalty area, and the youngster had the presence of mind to square for Parejo, who simply side-footed past Gabriel.

It was a deserved goal and Alcacer went close himself just after, while Banega had a good free-kick fizz just wide.

Valencia continued to press, as Faghouli turned an effort just wide, while Alcacer and Michel both had attempts on goal.

The hosts were desperately unlucky when Federico Cartabia thrashed a 30-yard effort against the underside of the bar, while he fired over shortly after.

Oriol Romeu then clipped the crossbar with a cross and Cristian Zaccardo cleared Alcacer's effort off the line, but it was not to be as Milan grimly held on for victory.

Milan will now play the winner of Chelsea or Inter in New York on August 4.

DFL Super Cup: Bayern Munich 2 Borussia Dortmund 4

Borussia Dortmund gained a measure of revenge with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the DFL Super Cup.

Juergen Klopp's side were defeated by Bayern in the UEFA Champions League final in May, but came out on top in an exhilarating match at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

Marco Reus made the most of a Tom Starke error as Dortmund headed into half-time 1-0 ahead.

But it was in the second half that the match really came to life, Arjen Robben headed home the equaliser, but a Daniel van Buyten own goal and Ilkay Gundogan opened up a two-goal advantage.

Although Robben's second brought hopes of a Bayern comeback, Reus added a second with three minutes remaining to wrap up the victory for Dortmund.

Bayern were without regular goalkeeper Manuel Neuer so Starke deputised in his absence, while Xherdan Shaqiri came in for the injured Franck Ribery.

Their opponents were without close-season signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan through injury, with Bayern target Robert Lewandowski leading the line up front.

After an edgy start, it was Dortmund who were gifted the breakthrough in the sixth minute. Lewandowski met a cross from the right and headed his effort into the ground, Starke completely misjudged the flight of the ball and spilled his attempted catch, with Reus making the most of the gift by heading into the empty net.

And they thought their lead had been doubled just two minutes later when Lewandowski was set free by Gundogan, he drilled his effort under Starke but was denied by the offside flag.

Looking for a way back into the game, Bayern were denied an equaliser by a fine double save from Roman Weidenfeller, Thomas Mueller played the ball to Shaqiri, and his low effort was blocked by the goalkeeper he also sprung back to his feet to tip away a follow-up effort.

At the other end, Starke kept the score at 1-0 when Gundogan fed Reus on the edge of the box, he squared to Lewandowski but the Pole’s goal-bound effort was foiled by Starke.

In the 35th minute, Mario Mandzukic was agonisingly close to meeting a David Alaba centre from the left but he could not quite get contact on the ball.

Both sides continued to push forward but the game went into half time with Dortmund leading 1-0.

After a tepid opening to the second period, the game burst into life with four goals in 10 minutes.

Bayern levelled as Philipp Lahm was left free on the right flank, he whipped an exquisite cross to the far post and Robben headed home from six yards.

But they were level for just two minutes. Gundogan delivered from the right and Bayern defender Van Buyten headed beyond his own goalkeeper.

A minute later, and Gundogan made it 3-1. He surged forward on the left, checked inside on the edge of the area and bent a right-footed effort into the far corner beyond a helpless Starke.

Bayern refused to surrender the game however, and in the 64th minute Robben reduced the deficit. Lahm was once more instrumental in the build-up as he delivered a drilled ball from the right and the Dutchman was afforded too much time in the area, swivelling on the penalty spot and driving into the right-hand corner.

The equaliser almost came in the 79th minute when Mueller volleyed a delightful Thiago Alcantara chipped ball against the crossbar.

But in the 87th minute Dortmund tied the game up. Substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang raced clear and squared for Reus to pass into the empty net. He looked offside but the goal stood as Dortmund claimed the title.

Pre-Season Friendly: Real Madrid 1 Paris Saint-Germain 0

A first-half Karim Benzema goal was enough to secure victory for Real Madrid over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.

It should have been a greater winning margin for the La Liga side, who enjoyed most of the chances, even if PSG began by keeping possession well.

After 23 minutes, Benzema gave Real the lead with a strong strike from distance that crept inside the post to Salvatore Sirigu's left-hand side.

It was no more than Real deserved after a strong period of pressure that saw Sirigu make an impressive double save from Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ezequiel Lavezzi then had a glorious chance from close range 38 minutes in but he failed to connect with a knock down from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He had another good effort in the second half, forcing Diego Lopez into a sprawling save after 59 minutes.

Madrid continued to press in the second half with an Angel Di Maria corner causing problems in the PSG box while Mesut Ozil also flashed an effort wide, after good work from Ronaldo.

The Portuguese had a late free-kick saved as it remained 1-0, as Real boss Carlo Ancelotti got one over his former employers.

MBUNGE NASSARI ASOTA POLISI KWA MADAI YA KUMPIGA KADA WA CCM

Mbunge wa Arumeru Mashariki, Joshua Nassari jana alishikiliwa na jeshi la polisi mkoani Arusha kwa saa tatu na nusu kwa tuhuma za kumshambulia kada wa Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Hussein Warsama siku ya uchaguzi mdogo wa udiwani Kata ya Makuyuni, wilayani Monduli.

Nassari aliyefika Kituo Kikuu cha Polisi Arusha saa 2:30 asubuhi jana ili kuitikia wito wa kutakiwa kuripoti kituoni hapo, alinusurika kuswekwa mahabusu baada ya kujidhamini mwenyewe majira ya saa saa 6:02 mchana na hivyo kuachiwa kwa dhamana.

Kwa mujibu wa taarifa kutoka ofisi ya Mkuu wa Upelelezi wa Makosa ya Jinai mkoani Arusha (RCO), Nassari anadaiwa kumshambulia Warsama Juni 16, mwaka huu, eneo Makuyuni alikokuwa wakala mkuu wa mgombea udiwani kupitia Chadema, Japhet Sironga.

Kamanda wa Polisi Mkoa wa Arusha, Liberatus Sabas hakupatikana jana kuzungumzia suala hilo, baada ya simu zake zote mbili za kiganjani kuita bila kupokewa wakati RCO, Duwan Nyanda alisema Nassari aliripoti kwake. 

Hata hivyo, alikataa kuzungumzia suala hilo kwa undani na kuelekeza atafutwe RPC ambaye ndiye msemaji wa polisi mkoani humo.
 
“Niko njiani nakwenda Dodoma, mtafute Afande RPC ndiye msemaji wa Polisi Mkoa,” alisema RCO Nyanda alipozungumza kwa njia ya simu jana.


Hata hivyo, habari za uhakika zilizopatikana kutoka duru za polisi zimeeleza kuwa jeshi la polisi, lilianza kumsaka Nassari tangu Jumanne iliyopita, kupitia kwa Mkuu wa upelelezi wilaya ya Arumeru.

Habari hizo zilizothibitishwa na Nassari mwenyewe, zimeeleza kuwa Jumatano ya Julai 24, mwaka huu, Naibu Mkurugenzi wa Makosa ya Jinai wa Polisi, Kamishina Isaya Mngulu, alimpigia simu mbunge huyo kumtaka afike polisi ndipo walipokubaliana kuwa angekwenda jana.
 

“Nilipofika polisi na kuripoti kwa RCO, nikawekwa chini ya ulinzi na kutakiwa kutoa maelezo kuhusu madai ya kumshambulia mtu mmoja, anayejulikana kwa jina la Hussein Warsama siku ya uchaguzi mdogo wa udiwani Kata ya Makuyuni,” alisema Nassari.

Mbunge huyo alisema baada ya kuwekwa chini ya ulinzi alikabidhiwa kwa ofisa  mwingine wa polisi kwa ajili ya mahojiano, lakini alikataa kuandikisha maelezo yoyote kwa sababu hakufuatana na wakili wake.

Alisema maelezo hayo yalionekana kuwakera polisi na RCO, kuagiza awekwe mahabusu hadi wakili wake, Tundu Lissu na Mabero Marando watakapofika, ambapo polisi kutoka wilayani Monduli walifika tayari kwa ajili ya kumchukua kumpeleka huko, kwa sababu tuhuma zinazomkabili zilifanyikia wilayani humo.

“Baada ya mimi kuwa tayari kuwekwa mahabusu na kuanza kukabidhi vifaa vyangu, RCO na maofisa wengine wa polisi, waliokuwepo walifanya majadiliano mafupi na baadaye kunikubalia kujidhamini mwenyewe, huku polisi wakiahidi kunipigia simu wakati wowote nitakapohitajika,” alisema Nassari.

Hata hivyo, wakati polisi wakimshikilia na kumhoji Nassari kwa tuhuma hizo, mbunge huyo pia alitoa tuhuma ya kushambuliwa hadi kulazwa hospitali ya Seliani, Arusha na watu aliodai kuwa makada wa CCM siku hiyo hiyo ya uchaguzi mdogo.
 
“Julai 14, mwaka huu nilivamiwa na watu wakiongozwa na Warsama huyu huyu anayedai nilimshambulia, nilitoa taarifa polisi lakini hadi sasa hakuna hatua iliyochukuliwa,” alisema Nassari.
 
Alisema ingawa hajajua aina ya makosa yanayomkabili, lakini ameshangazwa na hatua ya polisi kumweka chini ya ulinzi yeye aliyepigwa na kunusurika kuuawa na wafuasi wa CCM siku hiyo ya uchaguzi.
 
Kamanda wa operesheni na mafunzo wa jeshi la polisi, Kamishina Paul Chagonja aliwahi kuwaeleza waandishi wa habari Jijini Arusha, kuwa jeshi hilo lilikuwa linamsubiri Nassari amalize kutibiwa na kutoka hospitali, ili wamhoji kuhusu tuhuma za kumshambulia kada wa CCM.

Aliporejea Arusha akitokea Dar es Salaam baada ya kutoka hospitali, Nassari aliwaeleza waandishi wa habari kuwa yuko tayari kutiwa mbaroni na polisi kujibu tuhuma hizo.

Naye Katibu wa Chadema Kanda ya Kaskazini, Amani Golugwa alisema kuwa wameshangaa kuona Polisi wanageuza kibao kwa Nassari wakati yeye ndiye alipigwa na kuumizwa na aliyepigwa hawakuwahi kumsikia hadi leo.
"Suala ili tutakutana kesho kujadiliana ili tuone cha kufanya, huku tukishauriwa na wanasheria wetu," alisema Golugwa.
