Rodgers: Bale not worth double Suarez

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers does not believe Gareth Bale is worth double the value of Luis Suarez.

Reports suggest Real Madrid are willing to offer a deal worth in excess of £100million for Tottenham star Bale, while Liverpool recently rejected an offer of just over £40million for Suarez from Arsenal.
And Rodgers reiterated the Anfield club would not sell the Uruguay international, while also suggesting there should not be a huge gulf in the value of the wantaway striker and Bale.
"Throughout the world every player will have a value and worth but you only need to look at the market and 40 million and one pound? Gareth Bale we're talking about six figures," he said.
"Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez were arguably the two best players in the Premier League last year. So you can't say that Gareth Bale is valued at over 100 per cent more.
"We as a club are very strong in our belief in what we're doing and there will be no one moving out of here in a hurry."
Despite his eagerness to leave, Suarez was warmly received by the Anfield crowd after being introduced for the final half-hour of Steven Gerrard's testimonial against Olympiacos on Saturday.
And Rodgers said he was unsurprised by the gesture.
"There's been a lot of speculation about Luis and maybe people wondering what sort of reception he would get," he continued. "But that's the type of supporters that Liverpool are, they love their own.
"They've given him everything the supporters and even when they may have had an excuse, they've never ever done that (boo), they've backed him to the end and it was great for them to do that."
On club captain Gerrard, the Northern Irishman added: "For me, he's still got a number of years left yet. I see Steven at 33, and since the first day I walked in here he's really struck me with his determination and hunger to still succeed.
"You've seen his performance today, the quality of his movement, his passing, his leadership, he knows the responsibility is now on his shoulders with a number of players moving on. He's a real talisman and a real gentleman."
