Since he released his self-produced hit album Kaleidoscope Dream, Miguel has been giving us some get down and grind slow jams, but for this next single, he’s decided to raise some awareness about drugs, gun, corruption, and people who are lost looking for a dream.
He recently dropped the black and white visual for his song “Candles In The Sun,” where he features some hard hitting scenes of the plight of our world like people abusing drugs and signs outside of abandoned homes of Katrina victims in New Orleans, mixed in with some religious imagery.
Talking about his choice to get deep and talk about these issues, Miguel said, “It’s so easy to ignore what’s right in front of us sometimes. I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in.”
The song includes the lyrics:
Is there a God?Watch the video below:
Is he watching?
Is she watching?
Are they watching now?
If not, what are we doing?
Where are we going?
What are we doing now?
Look at all these people
Searching for a reason,
Searching for a peace of mind. Hey!
They say we’re all created equal,
That’s what they teach us,
But that ain’t how we treat each other…
